Many adults have fond memories of a special person who played an important role in their personal, occupational or professional development.

That special person, most often someone older, was a source of support and nurturing not always available from peers, parents or siblings. This “friend” provided inspiration, acceptance, a sympathetic ear, career opportunities or exposure to new activities or ideas.

Today we would call that special person a mentor. 

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kitchener-Waterloo and Area offers a variety of programs for children and youth in our community, along with the involvement of our dedicated volunteers.
