Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kitchener-Waterloo and Area has partnered with local schools to implement this NEW program. The Strong Start® project was created to make a contribution to the community’s efforts to ensure that all young children learn to read.

Volunteer Coaches work one-on-one with children ages 5 & 6 to increase their knowledge of letters, sounds and words using fun, interactive games and activities.

This program was created to give children an “extra boost” in their learning of early literacy skills. The games and activities include such things as playing a board game, putting puzzles together, matching objects with the sound of a letter or playing picture dominoes.
