The Kids ‘N’ Kops program is based on a partnership between our local agency and the local police department. Operating during the summer, Kids 'N' Kops provides a mini-police academy for children. This group program sees officers volunteer to mentor a group of children by teaching them many aspects of police work. The educational component is combined with a recreational element that integrates fun through sports and games into the weeklong experience.
Each day at Kids ‘N’ Kops is divided into two parts. The morning includes activities with police officers such as crime scene investigations, tactical rescue, drug and alcohol awareness, bike safety and fire investigations. These sessions are delivered by Police Officers who have knowledge or expertise in a particular area. The lunch is usually sponsored by a local business.
The afternoon often includes physical activities such as sports, community outings or mini-golf. These sessions are supervised by agency staff, police, parents or other volunteers.
